Emerging and Sustainable Cities Initiative (ESCI) Programme
The main objectives of the GPSC programme are the establishment and enhancement of urban sustainability indicators in close alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 11 and the development of a platform that ties all the city-level projects together. EO4SD-Urban collaborates with the GPSC programme via the provisions of geo-spatial data for sustainable urban planning in 8 cities, namely Bhopal & Vijayawada (India), Melaka (Malaysia), Abidjan (Ivory Coast), Dakar & Saint-Louis (Senegal), Campeche (Mexico) and Lima (Peru). In particular, implemented products allow comparative analyses between the cities and support each of them in reaching its goals within the programme (e.g., tracking the sustainability status of urban areas, mapping and monitoring informal settlements, etc.).
